Why isn't a story free on Amazon?

A quick note to Amazon readers about free stories. Unfortunately, Amazon does not allow an author to set their own work permanently free. Amazon sometimes drops the price to free if the story is available free elsewhere, a technique called price matching, but this can take months, if it happens at all. Mysteriously, Amazon will also price match at some stores but not others - currently The Stranger (Jem & Carlton #1) is available free at Amazon US but not Amazon UK, while Loss of Control (Falling #1) is available free at Amazon UK but not Amazon US.

If you're eager to pick up these stories free, but Amazon is still selling them at $2.99, you can encourage Amazon to price match them to free. In the Product Details section of each product page is a link asking "Would you like to tell us about a lower price?" Just click and report that the story is free at other retailers.

Until then, please enjoy these stories for free through other retailers: Smashwords, All Romance Ebooks, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and Sony. Thanks for reading.
